It is just possible that the square denotes Margaret Ross McLean, née Morrison (c.1847-1925) wife of Thomas Hicks McLean (c.1843-1918), Mayor of Northcote Borough Council, 1895 to 1897. Did she sign herself as Margaret Morrison McLean?
