Summary

The person represented here is mostly likely James Brownlie Crawford (c.1855-1901), a well-known and highly successful poultry breeder from Alphington. Mr and Mrs JB Crawford were members of Scots Church Heidelberg and attended the Church’s anniversary celebrations in 1898.

A ‘Mr Crawford’ is listed as holding two seats at Scots Church in 1893-1896. The 1898 Members’ Roll lists ‘JB Crawford’ as a member. It is assumed that these are one and the same people.

Originally from Peebles, Scotland, James Crawford married Jeannie (Mary Jane) Irish (c.1850-1921) in 1879. The couple do not appear to have had any children. It is likely that Jeanie Crawford is the J Crawford on [D13].
