Heidelberg’s Busy Bee Signature Quilt, 1895-96

Square M16

Quilt square M16

Transcription

Mr Robertson / Heidelberg

Alternative transcription: M. Robertson / Heidelberg

Summary

The Sands & McDougall Directory for 1895 does not record a 'M Robertson' living in Heidelberg, so we interpret the first initial of this name as 'Mr' rather than 'M'. This square possibly represents the son of George Robertson.

Further information

This square could be a second square contributed by George Robertson of [M8]. More likely, perhaps, this Mr Robertson is Henry (c.1864-1939), son of that George Robertson and Mrs G Robertson [N5].

On 26 December 1894, Henry Robertson had married Maude, the eldest daughter of Cr Thomas Davey, JP, of Heidelberg [G6].
