Aged 3 when the quilt was made, Don was the eldest son of Captain and Mrs Cumming, living at 2 Forster Street, Williamstown.
His father, Captain George Cumming, has a square at [K9].
His mother, born Annie Smith of Templestowe, has a square at [K13].
One of Don’s aunts was the Busy Bee, Christine Smith - see [Central].
His two younger brothers also have squares on the quilt. Andrew is at [J4] and Max is at [D2].
Don served overseas during World War 1.
